En 1989, 31 bandas de Rock donaron canciones a una compilación de recaudación de fondos para los activistas de la ecologìa internacional de ''Greenpeace''. La música en ese Doble Àlbum Recopilatorio es una muestra diversa del Rock de los años 80's. Fuè lanzada inicial y originalmente en la extinta URSS, como brecha y apertura, donde vendió 500.000 copias solamente en el día de su lanzamiento. Eventualmente las ventas en la URSS superaron las 3.000.000 de copias. Èste recaudador de fondos aventurero, como fuè llamado el àlbum ''Greenpeace Rainbow Warriors'', fuè lanzado posteriormente en todo el mundo, incluyendo América del Norte, Irlanda, Italia, Escandinavia, Nueva Zelanda, India, Bulgaria, Checoslovaquia, Polonia, Yugoslavia y Japón.

Según Greenpeace, las ventas mundiales habían recaudado más de US$ 8.000.000 para las iniciativas de ète grupo activista y ecologìsta llamado ''Greenpeace''.

Los aspectos más destacados del àlbum incluyen una versión en vivo de "Pride (In the name of love)" de U2, y hits de The Pretenders, World Party, R.E.M., Sting, Grateful Dead, Thompson Twins, Peter Gabriel, y Dire Straits entre otros.
